Ideas on Public Sculpture is an ongoing photographic
project by sculptor Chris Finnegan, documenting chanced upon structural
assemblies of objects within the urban environment.
These assemblies take many forms including;
construction materials, waste and rubbish, household
objects, as well as many other municipal and private
artefacts.
This work serves as an investigation, asking us to
examine these everyday phenomena within the context
of contemporary art. Many of the materials
documented are commonly used throughout today’s
sculptural practices. In reversing this creative ideology
can these structures then be regarded as artworks in
their own right?
